Bill Gates's Last Day and Vision of Apple and Microsoft

This is in place of the Tuesday News Blip for this week.
I got a huge kick out of this video.

Very impressed with the diverse collaboration of so many well known people for this humorous anecdote of Billy boy's last day. Also, it's always amusing and cool to see so many well-known people just casually operating in their down time modes out of the limelight (albeit a humorous glimpse). Magnifico.

Here's another interesting sequence of videos showing alternative angles from the technological leaders of Microsoft and Apple, twists you would wouldn't expect like:

Blll gates praising Macintosh

Ballmer about to have a heart attack (not so unexpected) and iPhone chanting

Bottomline in regards to new technological inventions:
I think the truly intelligent IT innovators don't buy into the "cult of microsoft" or "cult of mac" and just accept quality innovations from whichever company they originate.

Again, the best developers treat the innovation as genuine and emphasized not the creator. I just believe apple has invented more superior products than microsoft, but clinging to any brand is like over-specializing in one food source, you become extinct quickly. It's the invention that counts, not the originator.

Well, not sorry to see Bill Gates go! He's a genius at all the wrong things, and maybe in the next 'phase' of his life he'll be a genius at some of the right things. Also, maybe his company which was founded on the principle of duplication and mass production of other people's ideas--has MS ever had an original idea in its corporate history?--will finally be able to innovate on its own. But, from the looks of things with the attempt so just buy Yahoo! Search because MS Live Search or whatever it's called these days has been a disaster--another copy of some other people's ideas--it doesn't look like it.

You should do a post about this idea. It seems to me that every single product MS sells or gives away was 'borrowed' in its essence or idea from some other company. How have they gotten away with this for so long and been heralded as a breakthrough technology company when they seem never to have had a single break through of their own. The one and only very, very smart thing Bill Gates ever did was sign up the PC makers to like 20-year, exclusive contracts.

Yeah, I'm a die-hard mac fan, so I'm all about Apple when it comes to computers. But, nevertheless, yeah, was just shocked at how much litte hype he got. Your idea of borrowing sounds like a concept you know about yourself! You could write an article on it! LOL. Ummm yeah, some companies are like that. Dell doesn't "borrow ideas" but deliberately just assembles parts made by other manufacturers allowing production cost decreases.

I think saying MS never had an innovative idea of their own is pretty inaccurate or too far-fetched. I'm not a MS fan though. If anything this was a post not about MS and bill gates, but rather just the rival of Apple's lol. felt it should get covered in someway. After all, where would luke skywalker be without Vader? LOL :D

Well, it's 2010. I'm out of the mac cult. I like microsoft's software for many reasons. One of the main ones is this : Microsoft is like Okay we'll design software for a variety of hardware that competes against each other (amd/intel cpus, motherboard types, gpus, etc) and it's pretty impressive to design an OS that works with most all of those configurations, brands, and comptuer component products. And it does work. Linux does work too but there's almost like a 96% chance you'll have to do some driver tweaking with linux.

Now look at mac and apple. Apple is like, "let's design software for the hardware configuration that only We decide upon and we will then let no one pick the hardware they want (assembly one's own machine -- I must say, as I am doing that now with a PC MACHINE -- it's one of the most awesome experiences of my life and apple makes that IMPOSSIBLE with their restrictive software!) preposterous!

Additionally, apple locks down the actualy User folder!! So not only is one unable to select and assemble their hardware, they can't even change a few folders around in their home folder!!

Bleh, I have evolved. Microsoft, pc, linux all those are FAR FAR better than the rat-trained deluded cult of mac worshippers.

There's a reason why there's macaddict, and "cult of mac" and "mac user" terms, it's because it's a cult and whenever anybody goes from mac to pc there's a HUGE outrage (it's very rare indeed the cult of mac is very imprisoning and few get out!) so...I'm proud computer-building-it-myself person at hte moment. sweet!

It's so fun. You learn so much about electronics and everything! it's rad!
